There is a link posted above for the monthly homework calendar! Homework is a daily activity Monday through Thursday and should only last about 10-15 minutes each day, including reading (there is usually an optional Friday family activity that encourages continued reading and fun practice over the weekend). Homework will always be related to what we are learning at that time in school and will help your child practice important skills. The students will need some supervision and/or assistance in completing the assignments (mostly only having the assignment read to them), but should do the majority of the work and all of the writing on their own. It will need to be completed on the page provided (if it is a worksheet) or in the student's homework notebook and returned weekly. Be sure to put the date (have your child do it if they are able to), use the backs of pages, and do not skip pages in the homework notebook. Do not use this notebook for anything else! If you have any questions or concerns about the homework, please email or send a note! Thank you for your support! Remember to read with your child daily!
Good Homework tips:
Good Homework tips:
- Find a quiet spot, like a desk or kitchen table for your child to sit.
- Bring all materials to the homework spot (homework notebook and calendar, pencil, etc.).
- Sit with your child or stay close by to assist as needed or to keep your child focused on their work.
- Keep the TV, devices, and radio off for less distraction.
- Try to avoid food and/or younger sibling damage to the homework (as much as possible).
- If the activity is taking awhile and your child is restless, take a short break and then come back and help them finish.
- Do not do the work for your child! If they need help writing, you may start by writing so they can trace the letters or writing so they can copy. However, the goal is for your child to think and work independently!
